专辑：Saga Chapter 1 - Za shum ushatar Uglakh (The mighty warrior Uglakh) 2000年，两个叫 Simon 的瑞典人在一起以 Za Frumi 的名称发行了他们的第一张专辑，剧场式的对白和宏大的编排让人们耳目为之一新，自此 Za Frumi 踏上了他们自己的舞台。 专辑讲述了半兽人的领导者 Uglakh 及其族人史诗般的冒险历程，随着音乐的铺展，一个个场景生动的展开在眼前，由丛林中的祈祷，族人的探险，到发现擅长音乐的矮人族，再到与吸血鬼领袖 Ismael 的战争。从专辑取名 Saga(英雄传说) 就可以看出来，这里的半兽人不再象欧美大片里凶狠野蛮，而是一个个有血有肉有组织重感情的英雄形象。Saga 系列没有传达晦涩的理念，只是简简单单的小说式的情节。音乐未取艰涩与华丽，节奏简约，但没有一处重复，安静，却一点也不枯燥。笛子和鼓营造出了一种古老而宏大的场面，遥远天地的回响一层层荡开去。虽然没有排山倒海的听觉轰炸，但是在不知不觉中已经悄悄被吸引，这种音乐，毒药一般，一旦喜欢上，就再也拔不出来了。 曲目：1. A Perfect Circle的历史是从另一支著名的摇滚乐队Tool开始的, 乐队的两个核心Maynard James Keenan和Billy Howerdel在组建A Perfect Circle乐队之前, 就分别是Tool乐队的主唱和吉他手。其中Billy Howerdel还曾经在Smashing Pumpkins和Nine Inch Nails两支大牌乐队工作过, 并且参加过世界著名的摇滚乐队Guns N' Roses的专辑《Live Era: '87-'93》的录制工作。
在Nirvana王朝随着Kurt Cobain的生命一同崩塌之后, 以及受到了另类摇滚乐的鼻祖乐队Jane's Addiction的影响, 美国出现了一大批的Post-Grunge和另类摇滚乐队, 但是乐队在音乐风格上不同于其他的新金属乐队, 他们更注重音乐的旋律, 基本上是在基于艺术摇滚路线上加入了另类摇滚的元素, 如一些电子音乐仪器的使用, 来制造出特殊的音效, 这一点也与90年代中期的Tool非常相似。并且他们的部分成员还留着80年代金属音乐全盛时期的发型。
1996年, Tool乐队在推出了极端出色的专辑《Aenima》以后, 由于专辑所取得的巨大成功, 所以造成了乐队和以前的唱片公司Freeworld的长期的诉讼纠纷。但是在这场诉讼结束两年之后, 乐队的成员在收入分配和音乐创作上变得更加谨慎, 乐队成员内部虽然也就经济问题达成协议, 但是这也直接导致了乐队的分裂。主唱Maynard James Keenan和吉他手Billy Howerdel谋划另组一支新乐队, 他们还拉拢乐队中的贝斯手Paz Lenchantin加入了新乐队。
Keenan和Howerdel的相识是在1992年Tool乐队为老牌摇滚乐队Fishbone做开场演出的时候, 当时Howerdel还在Fishbone乐队, 两人在这次演出中很成功的配合了几首歌, 之后他们就走在了一起, 但是直到离开Tool乐队之后两人才开始了真正的合作。当他们俩人和贝斯手Paz Lenchantin形成乐队现有的基本阵容之后, 又招募了前Failure乐队和Enemy乐队的成员Troy Van Leeuwen作为乐队的节奏吉他手, 并且吸收了前Vandals乐队和Guns N' Roses乐队后期的成员Josh Freese作为鼓手, 乐队形成了长期的稳定阵容。
但是虽然五个人在一起排练和创作, 但是并没有宣告组成新乐队, 直到1999年8月15日他们在洛杉矶的一次演唱会之后他们才公布了乐队的新名字“A Perfect Circle”, 并且主要由Billy Howerdel担任词曲创作和音乐制作人。2000年5月23日, 乐队发行了第一张专辑《Mer de Noms》。后来, 出生在阿根廷的贝斯手Paz Lenchantin离开了乐队, 接替他的是原Marilyn Manson手下的贝斯手Jeordie Orsborne White(又名Twiggy Ramirez)。2003年9月16日, 乐队的第二张专辑《Thirteenth Step》正式发行, 并且创下了乐队历史上最好的单周销量(23万1千张)和最高排名(亚军)。2004年11月2日, 时隔一年之后, A Perfect Circle发行了乐队的第三张专辑《Emotive》。
